Our Story
The Beginning…
A 26-year-old preacher from rural Pennsylvania disrupted a murder trial in 1958 in New York City by rushing to the front of the courtroom. David Wilkerson had driven eight hours to speak to seven accused gang members. In a grave attempt to share God’s love, he rushed to the judge.
-
He pleaded with the judge for permission to meet the teenage defendants. News media were everywhere, and Wilkerson was front-page news throughout the city. The judge had been receiving death threats and almost had Wilkerson arrested as a presumed assailant. Wilkerson’s request was refused and he was ordered to never return to the Judge’s courtroom.
Five months later, Wilkerson’s compassion for teenage gang members and drug addicts began to make history. The judge’s refusal inspired Wilkerson to begin a street ministry for addicts and gang members. After Wilkerson opened the first center, people with trauma, drug addiction, and substance abuse flocked to the center. Many of them were rescued from their addictions and recovered from their life-controlling problems.
Today…
The service to teenagers has been expanding since Wilkerson’s endeavors. In 1998, Dr. Randy and Dana Rowe founded the Boy’s Center in Nevada, followed by the Girl’s Center, also in Nevada, several years later. Both centers offer a stable, warm environment to promote healing and recovery.
-
The Boy’s Center is located on seven acres, nestled against a gentle sloping hill. The Girl’s Center is on a beautiful 40-acre property situated in a valley between two majestic mountain ranges. The staff at each of the teen centers truly believe change can happen through love, grace, and guidance. Positive reinforcement helps build a lasting foundation for a transformation in the emotions and behaviors of teens. In addition to these basic principles, a holistic approach including counseling with a licensed therapist, life and social skills, education in conjunction with a local school via virtual courses, and practical training such as meal planning and preparation are incorporated into the program. Animal therapy is also provided at both centers. We are honored to journey with teens towards recovery and are excited at what the future holds for them!
Statement of Faith
We believe…
The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative word of God (II Timothy 3:16, I Peter 1:21).
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth (Matthew 1:18-23, 16:16, 28:6-7; Hebrews 4:4; Luke 1:26-27; 8:22-25; John 2:11, 14:13; Isaiah 53:7; I John 2:1-2; I Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 4:8-10; Romans 8:34; Acts 1:11; Revelation 1:7).
The baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who desire it (Acts 2:4, 2:38-39).
The sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live an overcoming life.
In the blessed hope - the rapture of the church at Christ’s coming (II Thessalonians 4:16-17). The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ (Romans 10:9-10; Acts 3:10). The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlast- ing damnation (II Corinthians 5:10; John 5:28-29; Revelation 21:28).
Water bastism by immersion.
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19; John 15:26; I John 5:7).
